A married man, simply identified as Mr Moses has been arrested by the Rivers state Police for bathing a 21-year-old lady with acid for refusing to date him. MaxNaija was told that the suspect reportedly attacked the victim, Mary Nnorodim and her siblings, a 12-year-old sister and 15-year-old brother, while they were asleep earlier this month, August.Mary and her sister were badly wounded, with their faces, chest and other parts of body damaged by the acid attack.
The incident occurred at the victims’ residence at Railway Avenue, Akpajo Eleme in Rivers State.Moses was said to have persistently threatened Mary through phone messages, promising to deal with her because she declined his sexual advances.The victim, who is presently at an hospital in Port Harcourt, revealed that the suspect had previously told her that he’d make life miserable for her and her family. Meanwhile, Port Harcourt based human rights group, ‘Initiative for Advancement of Humanity’, has petitioned Rivers State Police Commissioner, Tunde Ogunshakin to transfer the case from Eleme Police station to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).The group insist that it is the only way a thorough investigation can be carried out on the matter.Over the past months, there has been report of several domestic violence.Just recently, in July the Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Raphael Effiong, for allegedly stabbing his lover, Gift Sunday, to death on the arm and the breast for refusing to marry him.Another similar case was one Ms. Paulina Imuere, who is currently crying for help to undergo a corrective plastic surgery after losing her eye, face and body to an acid attack by her lover, Mr. Difference Ogba, who is now serving a ten-year jail term in Okere prison in Warri.
